Charting 2012’s Top Cultural Obsessions
You can’t talk 2012 without talking GIFs: the year’s cultural superstar, the Oxford American Dictionary’s word of the year, and the means by which the internet shared its obsessions (and we all know the internet really likes to obsess). From the GIF to politics to the apocalypse to Honey Boo Boo, the guys from I Love Charts bring you the year’s top cultural obsessions — in GIF form, of course.

Christmas gifts? They’re so 2011. May 2012 be the year of the Christmas GIF.
Everybody loves GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format), those funny little animated pictures — but they’re from the last century. And, the question isn’t “Why it is so popular?” The question is “Why it’s still so popular?”
Though there are a few differences between the GIFs of today and the GIFs of the Internets early days, it is not like the GIFs have “come back”. It’s more like they have evolved and are now very fast and easy to create and upload. I use GIFs because they’re the best way to convey my feelings to everyone on the Internet.

Maybe you’ve fantasized of having a camera assistant to help you with self-portraits and videos, but the thought seemed a little silly considering your iPhone only weighs 4 ounces.
Ain’t no shame. You can use the Swivl to follow your every move as it shoots video or photos. The base comes with a remote that you wear, so it’ll keep you in the frame even if you’re running circles around it!
